Added Capabilities and Resources
Pinnacle Worldwide
www.pinnacleww.com
PINNACLE WORLDWIDE, Inc., is an international partnership of leading independent public relations firms, with offices in major cities throughout the United States and abroad. Founded in 1976, Pinnacle Worldwide is one of the oldest networks of its kind. The combined billings of its member firms make it one of the largest public relations organizations in the world.
You demand the very best in a public relations agency. The responsiveness that only a local resource can provide. The strategic planning and crisp tactical implementation that will get results, level of business, marketing and communications savvy second to none. And you expect to work with agency principles, not local office functionaries.
This is why we invite you to examine the effectiveness and value of a firm that is a leading member of Pinnacle Worldwide, Inc. Not only because it is a gateway to public relations resources throughout the global village, but also because each firm is locally owned, each has in-depth understanding of your local market, and each is recognized as a superb public relations organization (the firm could not otherwise satisfy the stringent requirements for Pinnacle Worldwide membership).
In sum, each Pinnacle firm is among the most respected and capable in its area. Isn't that the most important criteria for choosing public relations council?
PRSA - Public Relations Society of America
Headquartered in New York City, PRSA is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. The Society's more than 18,000 members represent business and industry, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations.
The Society's mission is to advance the practice of public relations by:
- Uniting those engaged in the profession.
- Encouraging continuing education of practitioners.
- Playing an active role in all matters affecting the practice of public relations.
- Formulating the objectives and interpreting the functions of public relations, and those who practice it, to the public.
- Strengthening the relationships of public relations professionals with employers and clients, with government at all levels, with educators, with media, and with the public.
- Encouraging high standards of conduct and public service.
Counselors Academy
The Counselors Academy's Guide to Selecting a Public Relations Firm or Consultant recommends a five-step approach to help you to make an informed choice.
- These steps include:
- Defining
- Identifying
- Reviewing
- Narrowing
- Requesting
- Public relations counselors provide communications advice and services to help clients create, build, and protect their good names.
To achieve the understanding and support fundamental to helping clients to meet their goals, public relations counselors work in a variety of ways. For example, they may be involved in marketing communications, employee information, investor relations, media relations, training programs, or public policy matters - each of which can have a direct impact on how clients are perceived and whether they are therefore able to meet their objectives.
Public relations counselors typically provide these types of services:
- Analyzing issues and policies affecting stakeholders.
- Identifying vulnerabilities that may threaten a good name.
- Managing crisis communications.
- Recommending ways to build positive reputations.
- Working with clients to implement communications strategies and tactics to take advantage of opportunities or solve problems.
- Developing training programs to facilitate the flow of information.
- Evaluating communications programs and suggesting ways to improve future effectiveness.
The best time to consult with a public relations counselor is before a major business decision is made. This can lead to extremely useful insights and prevent public relations problems from arising when such counsel is not considered in advance.
Council of Public Relations Firms
The Council of Public Relations Firms represents the business of public relations. At-a glance, it provides background information about the Council's mission and Code of Practice as well as a Board of Directors, membership and staff available to assist its members. Their mission is to advance the business of public relations by building its value as a strategic business tool, setting industry standards, helping member firms manage successful and profitable businesses, and promoting the benefits of a career in public relations. Their membership includes over 100 of America's leading public relations firms.
Management Programs
To help PR firm principals and senior managers run their firms more effectively and promote best practices, the Council produces agency management tools including business benchmarking studies, employee compensation and benefits reports, quarterly member surveys. The Council also hosts periodic webinars and events.
Surveys: Benchmarking Surveys on a broad variety of topics, from salaries to business metrics, these studies enable members to obtain information and best practices to guide them in assessing the growth and profitability of their businesses
Regional Breakfast Roundtables: Throughout the year, Council members in major U.S. cities meet to discuss various personnel, client and compensation-related issues, while attempting to provide solutions for issues critical to the agency business.
Leadership Series: Each spring, Dr. Ashish Nanda from the Harvard Business School conducts a program for Council members that puts the business of PR into a broader business context; specifically, how marketing service organizations, such as PR firms, compare with other professional service industries.
Annual Critical Issues Forum: Each fall, industry leaders participate in panel discussions where they exchange opinions and share best practices on top industry issues. Past topics have included: conflicts of interest, procurement, search consultants and mergers and acquisitions, to name a few.
